Hiace Commuter

One of the most reliable, hardworking vans in Australia is the Hiace Commuter. Constantly used by a lot of couriers and taxi services over the years due to their bulletproof nature.

This camper was designed as a bit of a spacious weekender style van. Too small to live in but very comfortable to spend a few days by the river or the beach.

It has two large storage drawers out the rear of the van on heavy duty 227kg drawer runners. A table and void above the left hand drawer provide the perfect storage solution to be able to store the custom built camp table. This can also be used pulled halfway out without fully setting up the fold away legs.

Beside the bed is some small storage for phones, tablets etc with 2x USB charging points. The stock windows have had timber frames inserted to create a more homely feel. Above these windows are three large overhead compartments and a small shelf area.

In front of the bed area is a small kitchen/living area which includes a sink and tap and also a Bushman 85L Fridge. The Plumbing system has a 60L fresh water storage tank located underneath the sink and has a filler point on the external of the vehicle.

A kitchen drawer extends from the side sliding door from underneath the seating area. This houses a small area to place a cooker and a pull out chopping board. It has storage underneath this for plates and bowls, a cutlery drawer and larger storage underneath it for pots and pans.

The flooring in this van is our standard 15mm Oak engineered flooring in Washed Khaki colour. Paired with the warm tones of the Tas Oak benches and lining creates a warm cozy environment inside.

Under the bed at the kitchen end is a hatch which houses the battery system, a 120ah AGM battery, Projecta DC-DC charger, NOCO 15A AC battery charger and fuse panel. A Projecta battery monitor is also included in this system to keep tabs on the percentage value of the battery and see how much solar power is flooding in from the 120W Enerdrive panel on the roof.

The battery system in this van powers the fridge, Maxxfan ceiling vent, Sirocco Wall fan, USB chargers, lighting and water pump.
