2020 Hiace
This 2020 Hiace was driven to me literally from the showroom floor of Brighton Toyota for its conversion. The new model Hiace has a similar internal height to the previous model however boasts a wide body with around 1730mm internal width and a load length of around 2500mm.
Deb and I deliberated many layouts for this van however we settled on the fixed bed at rear with storage drawers underneath. Configured in a way that allows sideways sleeping in the van. The mattress measures 1725mm x 1300mm. Sure this isn't going to suit everyone, but Deb wanted to maximise the length of the vehicle saving that extra 500mm for front end storage rather than bed space An idea I welcomed, as even for me at 185cm could still feel comfortable lying down.
We mounted the battery system at the back behind the wheel arch on the drivers side. This system includes a 120AH battery with Projecta DC-DC Charger which has a solar input mounted next to the trailer point at the back of the vehicle. Behind the wheel arch on the passenger side was a storage box to incorporate the jack and hand tools for travelling.
Up the front of the van is a Dometic CRX80 Fridge next to a large 60L fresh water supply with sink and tap connected to a ShurFlo 12V pump. More storage with a bank of three drawers to house the likes of cutlery, cups, mugs and bowls etc. Next to this is a lower height kitchen drawer with flip up top which allows the ability to sit on and use counter top as a table.
The floor is an engineered American Oak timber which will ensure no gaps or swelling will ever occur in the in the flooring regardless of climate or spills. Walls and Ceilings are lined with Tasmanian Oak 12mm lining boards, which provide the perfect natural warmth to the interior aesthetics.
Fixtures include brushed steel theme throughout including Gooseneck tap, Marine outdoor reading lights, towel rails on rear door and RV labs locking cabinet handles.
I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to create such an awesome van for another customer who is sure to enjoy some of what the sensational country has to offer.
